Give your flower arrangements a magical touch by adding filler flowers and greenery! Follow these three simple steps when creating your flower bouquets and centerpieces. First, pick your favorite focal flowers. Next, pick secondary flowers. The last step is choosing accent filler flowers and greenery for an eye-catching design.

Accent Filler Flowers

Some favorites are wax flower, dusty miller, Queen Annes Lace, Veronica,Β  a variety of eucalyptus, and lots more! Pick the foliage that fits your style wedding.Β

Wax Flower

Wax Flower is a woody vine with dark waxy evergreen leaves and clusters of tiny flowers.Β  Don’t panic when you receive wax flower- it sheds when you pick it up. That is totally normal!Β  When working with this flower, cover your surface to catch the falling pieces. Wax flower is flexible and relatively durable, which makes it easy to work with. This filler comes in white, purple, and pink and is available all year round. You can use wax flower by itself for an ideal rustic themed wedding or in bouquets, centerpieces, and boutonnieres.

Queens Anne Lace

Queen Anne’s Lace is dainty and delicate for all types of arrangements. It looks perfect when paired with wildflowers. Some refer to it as a weed but don’t let this delicate bloom fool you. This light and airy filler will do a great job of softening blooms giving your flower arrangements an airy-feel with a white romantic lacy appearance. The above bouquet is a perfect example!

Veronica Flower

Veronica’s elegant bloom has tiny flower spikes that grow upwards from the stem base. For the most part, it is available all year round and available in white, pink, and misty blue. This beautiful filler can be used in waterfall bouquets, which adds a modern twist, or can be used for a classic and timeless wedding.

Tree Fern

Tree Fern

Tree fern is known as Ming fern, plumosa, or sprengeri fern. The tree ferns will shed while handling it, just like the wax flower. Colors will vary in hues of green depending on the variety of fern you pick. I love this greenery because it adds a light, airy, whimsical feel to your flower arrangements. Ming fern is a darker green, plumosa fern ranges from dark to light green, and sprengeri fern is a dense dark green. Don’t be afraid to add ferns to your garlands, wreaths, or statement florals.

Limonium

Limonium is among the most popular DIY flower filler. This flower is incredibly delicate and adds fullness and depth to bouquets for every occasion- not just weddings. It is described as having feather-like plumes and tiny flue flowers. If you want to add volume to your traditional roses, add some of these tiny blooms. The fragrance is not appealing, so we recommend not using a lot of it in small spaces. If you love dried flowers, limonium is perfect for you! Add this filler to dried flower arrangements, wreaths, or decorative door swags.

Dusty Miller

Dusty Miller is timeless with silvery frosted sage green leaves. It has a soft suede texture and is perfect for any season. However, this greenery is a bride’s favorite during the cold months. It blends well with winter whites, pastels, and even cool flower color combinations. It will look wilted when it arrives to you, rehydrated as soon as possible. Give all the stems a fresh cut, and place in shallow cool water. The leaves of this greenery are sensitive to being wet; avoid water touching the leaves.

Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus leaves

Eucalyptus is a staple in the wedding world and popular all year round! There are many varieties of this greenery choose for your bouquets, centerpieces, and boutonnieres. It comes in sprigs of tall bunches or whimsical stems with silvery undertone smooth rounded leaves. The scent has a minty, woody, and citrusy aroma. Brides love this greenery because of the drape shape, perfect for garlands, centerpieces, bouquets, or statement pieces.

Cedar Greenery

Cedar greenery adds vibrant texture to all types of winter flower arrangements. The fragrant branches can be stiff when working with it, but it is a perfect addition to table garlands or home dΓ©cor garlands. Use cedar greenery in your bouquet, making it the spotlight of your wedding.

Brunia Silver

Brunia Silver Flowers

Silver Brunia is a unique silver-grayish frosty green with a velvety texture. The neutral color makes it easy to use with a wide variety of colors. Silver Brunia is especially popular during the winter months. Pair this exotic filler with dusty miller and your favorite winter flowers, and you will not be disappointed! Floral designers love to use it in bouquets, centerpieces, and boutonnieres all year round.
